The Role

We have an exciting opportunity that has come available for an Executive Manager, Safety & Wellbeing to join People & Culture in AU or NZ on a Permanent basis. In this role you drive business performance, culture change and engagement of our people with Purpose. You will do this through the development, delivery and embedment of a Board endorsed, transformative 3-year Safety and Wellbeing strategic plan across the IAG Group. In this role, you will be responsible for building organisational capability and commitment to create safe and healthy workplaces across IAG, and for building an enhanced, holistic approach to wellbeing. You will understand industry best practice and will embed robust safety management practices and enhanced reporting with lead metrics and insights.

The successful candidate will showcase their strategic insight, influence and leadership experience as they create and execute the safety and wellbeing frameworks polices and culture across the group. You will bring deep experience and a keen attention to detail as you drive engagement, alignment and commitment. A key challenge will be your ability to provide strategic leadership as you influence senior stakeholders to challenge the status quo and drive cultural change within an ambiguous and a rapidly changing business environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the creation and execution of the safety and wellbeing frameworks, policies and processes that significantly improve IAGs safety performance and culture across the Group.
• Own and lead the design and implementation of FY21-FY23 safety and wellbeing business plan initiatives and four strategic priorities of Wellbeing Focus, Culture and Capability, Digital Technologies and Risk and Compliance. Initiatives promote the future of work, flexibility, broadening wellbeing capability to enhance employee experience, diversity and inclusion, trust across the organisation, safety, ethical decision making and a culture of doing the right thing.
• Review and enhance our key S&W policies, procedures and governance, applying sound judgement and a strong risk management lens.
• Proactively drive our future of work implementation, including embedment and testing/learning/iterating our new ways of working models at IAG.
• Monitor external trends, legislative environments and practices to recommend enhancements and ensure ongoing compliance with policies, procedures and legislative requirements across the Group.
• Deliver specialist inhouse and partner safety and wellbeing advice and support against agreed service levels.
• Establish, monitor and report on safety and wellbeing performance against targets to the business, GLT and Board. This includes strong written and oral communication ability to be able to prepare, and provide appropriate insight and recommendations, to GLT executives and Board.
• Manage IAGs workers compensation performance and premium to ensure contemporary, fit for purpose, consistent and current people policies and procedures across IAG. This includes the proactive management of IAG’s safety and wellbeing vendors and suppliers.
• Lead a team that is connected to IAG’s purpose and has a high-performance culture which is role modelled through the IAG Way.
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing for our people in the workplace and proactively manage risk for IAG.

Skills & Experience

• Over 10 years’ experience as a senior health and safety practitioner in an organisation of significant complexity.
• Extensive experience leading multidiscipline specialist shared service teams and driving pragmatic and commercial business outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience coaching and developing leaders to deliver results.
• Strategic mindset – able to connect interdisciplinary thinking and develop and deliver a strategic S&W plan.
• Ability to build collaborative and mutually beneficial partnerships.
• Courage and ability to challenge and influence executives and board members.
• Proven ability to actively keep abreast of changes in external environment and translate into internal environment.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across whole of function and broader group to reach common approach.
• Strong understanding and ability to monitor and manage S&W risks.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications – Degree in Human Resources, Business or Health and Safety.
