About the Role

Ventia in partnership with the Australian Defence Force have an exciting career opportunity for a passionate Chef to join our team in Puckapunyal. Reporting to the Head Chef you will be responsible for managing the buffet style mess preparation and delivery which serves 150 defence personal people per seating.

• Buffet style food preparation for breakfast, lunch & dinner – dependent on your roster
• Support the Head Chef with daily mess operations and food service, including routine meals, in-flight rations, field rations and mess functions
• Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, and barbeques
• Assist the Head Chef with menu creation, costing, rostering & HACCAP management
• Support stock management initiatives, including stock rotation and restocking consumable

We have the option for you to work across two rosters:

• Morning Roster: 6.00AM – 2.00PM
• Afternoon Roster: 11:00AM – 7:00PM

About you

• Proactive, energetic and shares a passion for the hospitality industry
• Australian recognised Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification)
• Experience in a large commercial kitchen
• Ability to adapt to changing demands to meet needs, especially at busy times
