Technical Business Analyst

Ventia is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to join our growing Digital team in New Zealand. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong technical curiosity and ambition to build a long-term career in systems, data, and business analysis.

Working closely with the NOVUS Implementation Lead, you’ll support the rollout and continuous improvement of NOVUS, our in-house work management system, a critical platform underpinning operations across our telecommunications and infrastructure business.

This role is ideal for someone early in their career or looking to transition into IT, who thrives on learning, solving problems, and making systems work better for the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Technical Business Analyst, you’ll act as the bridge between the business and technology, helping translate operational needs into system solutions while building your technical capability.

You will:

• Support the onboarding of new contracts and migration of existing contracts into the NOVUS system
• Configure and implement workflows, forms, and system functionality
• Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources into NOVUS
• Capture business requirements and translate them into clear system solutions
• Perform testing (including sprint and UAT testing) and provide feedback to developers
• Assist with system rollouts, training, and user adoption across the business
• Contribute to reporting and insights, including exposure to Power BI
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce inefficiencies, and enhance performance
• Build an understanding of how large-scale operational businesses operate

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has a strong technical mindset and enjoys working with systems and data
• Is curious, proactive, and eager to learn
• Takes ownership of tasks and knows when to escalate for support
• Communicates clearly, asks great questions, and listens well
• Works collaboratively across teams and stakeholders

You might be:

• A graduate or postgraduate in IT, Business, Engineering, or a related field
• Early in your career and ready to step into a Technical BA or Digital role
• Someone with exposure to systems, data, or analytics who wants to grow further

Nice to Have (But Not Essential)

• Experience with Power BI, advanced Excel, or SQL
• Exposure to work management systems (e.g. ServiceNow, SAP, Maximo)
• Understanding of system implementation or software delivery environments

This is a hybrid role, with a requirement to be in the office at least three days per week. Our centrally located office at 501 Karangahape Road offers excellent public transport access, along with free on-site parking for employees.
