Ventia is seeking an experienced ITS Estimator to join our high-performing Estimating team. Based in Melbourne (preferred), we are also open to candidates located in Sydney or those willing to relocate for the right opportunity.
This is a highly specialised role focused on estimating major Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) construction and maintenance projects, including smart motorways, traffic signals, CCTV, communications networks, tunnel systems, and associated electrical and telecommunications infrastructure.

About the Role
Reporting into the Pre-Contracts team, you will develop robust first-principles estimates for ITS, electrical, and telecommunications infrastructure projects across Australia and New Zealand.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing detailed estimates, cost plans, and pricing strategies for ITS construction and maintenance works.
- Developing estimates using first-principles methodology and estimating software platforms.
- Managing supplier and subcontractor pricing activities, including RFQs and tender evaluations.
- Preparing labour build-ups, programme-based cost models, lifecycle cost schedules, and cashflow forecasts.
- Supporting risk and opportunity workshops and contributing to tender strategy development.
- Benchmarking rates and validating estimate accuracy through historical cost data and market knowledge.
- Collaborating closely with Bid Managers, Commercial teams, Operations, Procurement, and technical SMEs to deliver high-quality tender submissions.
About You
We’re interested in speaking with experienced estimators from the transport infrastructure sector, particularly those with backgrounds in:
- Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS)
- Transport electrical infrastructure
- Transport telecommunications
- Roads, tunnels, and motorway projects
- Construction and maintenance service contracts
You may currently be working for a Tier 1 contractor, major transport infrastructure provider, or specialist ITS business.
Ideal Experience
- Experience estimating transport, ITS, electrical, or telecommunications projects.
- Strong understanding of road and motorway infrastructure.
- Experience developing estimates from first principles.
- Strong commercial and analytical capability.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and estimating software experience.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Cost Engineering, or similar (preferred).
