Leidos

About our business

People join Leidos Australia for many different reasons. The interesting projects. Supportive and open-minded colleagues. The opportunities to develop. What unites us is the fact that everything we do benefits and safeguards Australia in some way. We’re proud of our Mission to make the world safer, healthier and more efficient, and every Leidos team member has a valued role to play – to Be the difference.

We bring together science, engineering and technology to deliver smart solutions to our Government customers’ most complex problems. For example, we deliver software applications for a wide range of missions in the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance domain. We provide critical projects to the Department of Defence and also support the IT environment for the Australian Taxation Office. And we maintain legislative websites for a number of Governments.

Here in Australia, we’re growing fast. Our 1,400 employees – mainly based around Canberra and Melbourne – are busy building a reputation for innovation and delivery. And, as part of a US-based organisation with 37,000 people and a 50 year history, we are able to draw upon world-leading technical expertise to help us provide the best solutions to our customers.

Why is Leidos a great organisation to work for?

One of our key business goals is to be a great place to work. Integrity and Inclusion are key values of ours and we are committed to ensuring all of our people have all the flexibility, support and opportunities they need to be able to be their best and feel fulfilled.  Over the last year in particular, we have worked hard to enable everyone – whether now based at home, an office or a customer site – to continue to be collaborative, productive and, above all, safe and healthy.

We are also committed to everyone’s Health and Wellbeing.  Our ‘Thrive’ initiatives include a wealth of activities and resources not just to cope, but to empower and motivate our people throughout their time at Leidos.

Our Advocacy Groups and Communities of Practice help ensure like-minded people, irrespective of where they work within the organisation, are able to collaborate and learn within their interest or professional groups.

All employees enjoy access to our excellent Employee Assistance Program, Benestar.

And every team member is entitled to one day a year’s Volunteer Leave so they can contribute to a cause they feel passionately about.

In terms of parental leave, Leidos offers two types of leave for the birth, adoption or fostering of a child: Parental Leave as Primary Carer is paid by Leidos for 12 weeks full or 24 weeks half pay. We also offer 2 weeks of paid Partner Leave (secondary carer).

We have also partnered with Grace Papers, an evidence based learning resource and communication platform which provides self-directed learning tools and programs for working parents/caregivers and People Leaders. Complementing the learning tools is engaging content, storytelling, webinars and live events. Parents taking primary carers leave also have access to 3 x 1 hour individual coaching sessions to provide support before they go on leave, before returning to work and once they have returned to work.
