Head of Safety & Security

We are currently looking for a Senior Manager to lead our Safety & Security team within the centre.

The Head of Safety and Security is responsible for delivering the business and contractual requirements of the Safety and Security function, and for ensuring the physical (static) and dynamic safety and security at Parklea Correctional Centre (PCC) is not compromised, through fit-for-purpose policies, work practices, systems and infrastructure.

Role overview

It is incumbent upon the Head of Safety and Security to maintain effective and appropriate security policies and procedures to meet the requirements of a safe and secure facility. This role routinely liaises with managers and staff at all levels to maintain security awareness and encourage the two-way flow of information critical to effective security, balanced with rehabilitative approaches. The Head of Safety and Security works with the HR team to support security-related aspects of training for staff working in the Centre.

The Head of Safety and Security is a member of the Senior Management Team at PCC, and is required to exhibit excellent leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and influence both staff and inmates, and work closely with other members of the SMT to ensure a holistic approach to delivery of services across the Centre, in line with contractual requirements.

Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated previous experience of working at a similar senior level in a correctional environment is necessary.
• Experience in leading effectively in a dynamic environment
• Ability to work under pressure and adjusting quickly to shifting priorities to make prompt decisions
• Managing threats to the safety, security and wellbeing of the centre, self and others

The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate security clearances from New South Wales Police and Corrective Services New South Wales prior to appointment.
